Crake
The manumits' hidden leader, one of the three romances, and the ally behind the Knyazmaker ending.
Crake leads the human resistance to Brencis's regime. The rebellion is called the manumits, and its aim is not simply to kill the knyaz but to decide who follows him.
Crake is an alias. The journal is blunt about why: the manumits keep many secrets and their leader's identity is the best kept of them, to the point that some people doubt he exists at all. His name is Marat, and Coen can ask him to his face why anyone calls him anything else.
He is one of the game's three romances, and the only one of the three whose path runs through the main story rather than beside it. Siding with him through the month leads to the ending the game calls The Knyazmaker.
From Coen's journal
The manumits have many secrets, and their leader's identity is one of the best kept ones. But, after quite a lot of effort, I managed to find him – even though he'd probably say he let himself be found.
And, though he pretends otherwise, he seems desperate. He's running a tight ship, but also a sinking one. The manumits are outnumbered, hunted down without mercy… I could help them, and something tells me Crake already knows that.
