Money and trade

Denarii buy two things that matter: what you are not carrying yet, and another level on what you already like.

What the median one sells for

Denarii. Most of the catalog is small change.

What a silver piece sells for

Ten times the median, and illegal to hold.

Silver is the exception, and the game says so

The game keeps its own glossary entry on silver: possession is prohibited in Vale Sangora, and only a few vendors will buy it. That reads as a warning. It is also a price signal.

The eight silver valuables in the catalog sell for a median of 94 denarii each. The median priced item in the whole game sells for 9. So the contraband is worth roughly ten ordinary pickups, and one of the game's achievements counts a thousand denarii earned selling it.

Junk sells in one press

82 items are filed as junk, and the shop screen has a Sell All Junk button so you never have to work through them one at a time. Junk is also the first thing to clear when you go over the weight limit, because the alternative is a walk to a shrine you cannot fast travel to.

Upgrading beats replacing

The game's own advice, on its loading screens, is that a favourite sword or armour piece which has fallen behind should go to a craftsman rather than into the sell pile. The upgrade costs denarii, the screen shows the level it would reach before you confirm, and every item has a ceiling it cannot pass.

That matters most for the pieces you cannot buy again. Check what a weapon's damage and an armour piece's rating already are before deciding which of the two to spend on.

Who trades

The valley's people include an armourer, a blacksmith and their apprentice, a herbalist, an alchemist, a medic, a food merchant, a travelling merchant, a peddler of wonders and a silver trader. Every name the game gives is on the cast list.

Where each one stands is not something the shipped data settles, so this site does not place them. The map marks the two general stores and the one medic the game draws a pin for, and villages hold the rest.

How the game explains it

The valley teaches its own systems through a glossary it writes itself. These are the entries it keeps on this one, quoted in full.
