Shrines
The 114 roadside shrines are the valley's only fast-travel network, and they do two more jobs the game never puts on the same screen.
The Silts
One building, three jobs
The game introduces a shrine as a fast-travel point and never gathers the rest onto one screen, so the other two jobs are easy to miss for hours.
Fast travel
Between shrines you have already found, and no others.
Learn a perk
The only place a Skill Point can be spent.
Reach your storage
Available from every shrine, which is how you drop weight.
A Skill Point buys nothing anywhere else
Levelling up pays you Skill Points, and the game is explicit that perks can only be bought at a shrine. Some perks also need you to read the manual that describes them before the shrine will sell them at any price. Filter the catalog by Manuals to see all forty-nine.
Learning an advanced perk moves the clock, so the character panel is one of the few places outside a quest that spends a time segment.
Where they are
The counts below come from the game's own map. Twenty more shrines are drawn as destroyed and do not join the network.
Nine regions hold one. The tenth is Greifberg Castle, which the game scales to levels 36 to 50 and gives no shrine at all. Whatever you carry in is what you have.

How the game explains it
The valley teaches its own systems through a glossary it writes itself. These are the entries it keeps on this one, quoted in full.
