One of my men managed to discover something interesting about the manumit leader, the man they call ‘Crake’. Sergeant Rateld was able to pose as someone looking to join the rebels and was contacted by a pair of recruiters.
They didn’t tell Rateld much at the meeting – but neither did they notice him sneaking behind them when they were leaving. He overheard them talking about Crake. One of the criminals was complaining and said: ‘I’m not sure if I can trust this outsider to lead us.’
Which means that this ‘Crake’ might be someone from outside the valley, who came here to start an uprising on some orders… or he’s either a Jew or a Tatar. Which would explain why our pursuit of him is so far fruitless – we’ve been looking in all the wrong places.
I hope this proves to be useful and await further orders.
