“No one really knows how many fools lost their lives in such a way. But one day it came to an end when a travelling priest challenged Adelheid. As usual, before meeting the pious man, she cast the Devil’s hex and made one of her followers injure the interloper. To her surprise, the wound didn’t kill him – he quickly regained health and sought the woman out. Seeing her magic in play and with God’s help on his side, the priest was able to defeat Adelheid. In the aftermath, the witch fled Brunla, never to be seen again.”
