Born into a wealthy merchant family, he once lived a life of luxury and earthly pleasure. Yet a family tragedy led him to seek solace in solitude and God. After renouncing his lands, he withdrew to the Gorgany mountain ridge, where he built a modest hermitage out of moss and stone. There, he welcomed weary travellers, baptising them in a nearby waterfall. Legend has it that when he died, the holy waters ceased for a day, then fell louder, as if mourning him.
