In this trying time we urge you to remain calm and prepare for the winter. Aid your neighbours and make sure that everyone is accounted for. Raise defences against highwaymen and marauders. We must endure.
As soon as the snow thaws and the roads out of the valley open once again, we shall dispatch our envoys to the Kings of Bohemia, Hungary and Poland, and ask them for help. Hopefully, one of them deems it worthy to take our valley under their protectorate.
