There is a simple yet effective remedy to fight the miasma in the air that is spreading the plague. To restore the balance, take a bucket of onions and lard, and leave it outside in the sun to rot. The stench that will soon begin wafting from it will counter the foul illness. Bring the bucket inside your home and trap the air as much as you can.
But even for wounds already going black and lumps appearing in sight, there is hope: attach to them a slice of raw meat or a live frog to draw out the bad humours and cleanse the body of the disease.
