The man who had summoned me, Knyaz Skender Dragosti, cut a striking figure. Tall, handsome, and always richly dressed, he seemed the epitome of nobility. But, as is often the case, appearances were deceiving. I quickly discovered that Knyaz Skender was a cruel ruler, who knew no mercy when displeased. While a different seigneur might have used the proceeds from the mines to fund a monastery or a convent, Knyaz Skender used them to expand the dungeons beneath the mighty Greifberg Castle. I saw these dark, dank cells with my own eyes – their walls stained with blood.
