– from 'Explanations of the Bible' by Athanasius of Parlita
We should always remember that all peasants in the world come from just one person – an unfortunate one, at that.
As the Bible teaches us, the patriarch Noah had three sons: Shem, Japheth and Ham. One day, Ham committed a horrible crime against Noah – and Noah cursed Ham's son, Canaan, for it. Canaan was to serve Shem and Japheth, and his offspring was to be ruled by Shem and Japhet's descendants.
That is why peasants are beneath the rest of us. The Bible says that explicitly.
