Tattered Journal

A memoir of a scholar and explorer, whose name remains unknown.

March 15th, AD 1346

It was all true – everything I have read in crumbling old chronicles at the university. There are few places in the world so wild at first glance, yet so dense with ancient secrets, if one knows where to look. Were it not for this meticulously maintained journal, I myself would have lost count of all the temples, burial sites, and ancient artefacts I have discovered in Vale Sangora.

And yet, I am far from concluding I have seen them all. On the contrary – just a week ago (and by absolute accident) I located yet another promising place. Its origins remain a mystery to me, but I found a door so solid I could think of no way to get past it. Years of exploring ancient remnants have taught me that such safety measures are only taken when one wants to protect treasures of considerable value. But what was I to do? I had to admit defeat and head somewhere else.

And then, by sheer luck, I met a travelling merchant. Among heaps of useless junk he had a mysterious-looking key. Judging by its design, I would say it surely had something to do with the sturdy door. The merchant, of course, had no idea about the key's value, so I bought it for less than it costs to buy a mug of cheap ale.

And now, I'm ready to go back to the ruins and uncover yet another mystery of Sangora. I just have to travel through the mountains. At this time of year, it's a challenge, but I've done it once already. And having been at death's door numerous times, I am certain now that danger only makes this whole adventure so much more worth it. Onward, then! To the ruins!

From the game's own loot tables and the inventories its characters carry. A percentage is the highest spawn chance recorded for this item; a row without one always carries it.
