Hope this letter finds you well – or at least still alive.
We were approached by eleven potential recruits. Of these, three were found lacking, four were given simple tasks to demonstrate their commitment to the cause, and a further three were killed due to suspicions regarding their motivations.
The last case, concerning one Klaus ("the Brave", as he insisted) was a bit unusual – I shall describe it in detail, as we all need a good laugh every once in a while.
The man was clearly unfit for the job, and we told him so in no uncertain terms. Klaus took offence to our judgements and insisted he’s the greatest warrior the valley has ever seen. We were sceptical of these claims, to say the least, so Klaus said "Oh yeah? Then watch this!", after which he attempted to do a shoulder roll with his sword drawn. Unsurprisingly, this resulted in a crippling injury and settled the case. Some people, eh?
