There are three estates in this world, each with its own distinct purpose, intended by God.
The commoners, or peasants, live to work the fields and to be ruled. The nobility keep the commoners in check. And the clergy serve as the bridge between God and man, bringing the latter closer to salvation.
All three estates are ruled and protected by their kings or other suzerains, who reside on top of the proverbial ladder, tasked by God with establishing and maintaining His order.
Such is God's will – and our only way towards the Kingdom of Heaven.
