All of the faithful strive to be closer to God. But in doing so, they need to follow the teachings of the Holy See. Seeking to understand divine designs on their own, they may easily be blinded by the absolute – and lose their way.
Such was the case of the Bogomils, who taught their followers to disobey their masters and scorn the rich, and the Cathars, who believed not in one God, but two, which is the vilest of heresies. But all such erroneous teachings should be excised from the body of the Church, and in doing so no mercy shall be shown.
