Mastering the Art of Parrying, part 2

Part 2 of the Perfect Block manual.

Now, let’s say you know how to deflect the attacks against you instead of just blocking them. The next step is working on your precision. The trick is to parry in such a way that your enemies are thrown out of balance. To do so, it's best to aim at the upper part of the blade – the closer to the tip, the better.

If you do it correctly, you will create a kind of a pendulum. Not only will your opponent’s swing miss you, but will continue on moving away. And that means that an opening will be created. For a blink of an eye, your enemy will be vulnerable to any riposte you can come up with. So you better come up with a good one, eh?
