Everything is ready – my friend will take us through the city gates tomorrow night. Can you believe it? In a few days we shall be happily married – and your family be damned!
Still, there’s the matter of paying my friend. It won't be cheap – and as you know, I spent all my savings on the wedding preparations. I hate to ask, but could you go through your father’s things and take something valuable? I’m sure the old miser won’t miss a pouch of coins and some jewellery. It will be his wedding gift to us, right?
