The pestilence is upon us, and the air carries corruption with it.
Any who die of the foul air shall be buried before sunset on the day of their passing, lest unclean spirits claim the body.
The chest of the dead shall be staked through with an aspen pole to bind it to the earth and prevent the dead from waking as beasts.
The body shall be laid face down in the grave so that the dead can see no return.
No corpse shall be kept within a house overnight under penalty of expulsion or death.
Town watchmen shall maintain order, and in their absence, all must bear this duty to survive this trying time.
