A Few Lessons in Life, part 1

I never thought of myself as a particularly wise man. I don’t understand philosophers, and have no skill in debating scholars. I don’t know how to behave amongst the nobles. In fact, I can't read or write – these words are put to parchment only because my lord paid a scribe to do so. My lord is a great man and he, for some reason, thinks that my own experience is worth passing on to posterity. So be it – perhaps I do have some morsels of truth to share. Let’s start with the importance of proper retaliation.
