How the game itself explains this system.
In the Journal panel you can:
• Look at your current Main Goal. It's up to you how to achieve it.
• Look at your Quests and their Objectives.
• Track Time with the Timeline at the bottom. day Time Segment shows how much Time has already passed. night Time Segment shows how much Time will pass when you complete your currently selected Quest Objective.
night objective - an objective available only at Night.
day objective - an objective available only during Day.
time-sensitive objective - a Time Sensitive objective. Ignoring it for too long will have consequences.

The Journal provides more information about your current Quests and Objectives.
Press Journal to open the Journal.
Press Cancel to exit the Journal.
The Quest Journal provides more information about the passing of Time, your current Quests, and Objectives.
